Biceps Tendinopathy

I thought I injured my rotator cuff because of the activities that were causing me pain in the shoulder and arm. Couldn’t imagine how I managed it, but I knew I needed to do something about it. There is nothing special about this post. Just a random injury. With absolutely no cause. That is currently impairing my ability to do certain things around the house with ease. Definitely not what I need right now.

It turns out it is Biceps Tendinopathy “Proximal biceps tendinopathy is the inflammation of the tendon around the long head of the biceps muscle” Physiopedia Which causes pain during a Lot of routine activities. Just on my right side. And I am right side dominant. Of course.

It is causing me pain when I:

  • Do movements to mop the floor- so push forward on a mop
  • Wash the counters, so that circular motion
  • Put on a belt or bra, because I move my arm behind my back a bit. And that definitely is not a pleasant movement
  • Pain at night when I tried to rest on it or move and adjust
  • Many other surprisingly jolting movements that catch me off guard.

The pain is sharp as all hell. Like shooting.

I have absolutely no idea what caused the injury. Of course. As per usual for me. Only that its been around for a couple of months. And I hoped it would go away by itself. Which it did not. Then I tried some stretches which were extremely painful, so that was not the answer either. So I went to the doctor and she suggested physical therapy. My favorite thing to do. Okay, not so much. But necessary sometimes.

I set up the physio immediately. Best not to procrastinate and make the issue embedded. I went today. And I have a set of three exercises to start with that are a little more strength building than I am used to. I have to go for a bit to resolve the issue, as is normal with physio. Hopefully I have the coverage for it.

Also what the heckballs

He asked what caused the injury. And the fact that I do not know and can’t remember is insane. I know I am clumsy, but seriously. It is ridicules the amount of times I injure myself with no cause to account for it. I know I am double jointed and sometimes that accounts for some strange injuries and definitely a lot of random bruising. But seriously, it is nuts how often this happens. So I found this physio place to see if I like it- because I will likely be seeing them again for something.

But thankfully

This is not Multiple Sclerosis related as I thought it might be. Because I couldn’t figure out a cause for it. So I had no idea what it was. And definitely not fibromyalgia pain-like. So I was a bit worried about it. But, nope, all good. Just random injury of the year, I guess. As happens.

It happens. It just happens. I guess. Like the time I sprained my rib cage in my sleep. Just happens.

So I have some physio to add the the physio I am already doing. Great stuff.
